Warrior, because it's a freaking Warrior.
More specifically, the Warrior/Monk, or W/Mo (or wammo)
Wammos were never hugged as a child.

Warriors because it's believed that all you have to do is run in and watch what happens.

there does seem to be an abundance of warriors, simply because the high warrior armor is more forgiving than the others.
But then again if we really want to count the pure volume of characters the m/w for bots might just top the list.

... and then cry like a 8 year old (probably the real age) blaming the monk for not healing properly.

W/mo's, by far and away. It's pretty easy and a lot of players are confused by tactics, skill management, energy management, choosing a build, or just being original in general, so they make wammos and merrily swat things in the brains.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I would say w/mos as well...
Simply because people new to the game (or old players that are just not all that bright) dont wanna spend time making build or whathever, so they just put mending up and go on "tank some damage" until they are dead and start saying "WHAT A FREAKING BUNCH OF NOOBS U GUYS ARE!!! Cant kill em fast enough / cant heal me fast enough / cant play on the same level as mine and blablabla...".
Oooo well, i am glad that this is not all of the warriors i see (i actualy have a warrior lvl 20 on my own whitih over 1 year of playtime...i can say now confident that i got over mending ;p), even thought 90% of them are ^^ But oo well, 90% of the PVE gamers on all classes are crapy so thats not a big news ;p
Later.

Wammo would be the most played proffesion. As to why, I guess they think it is their job to heal the party. Wrong. Its the healer monks job to heal the party. Warriors should do damage.

I have never, ever, seen a Whammo try to heal the party. Are you sure you know what a Whammo is? They heal themselves through mending and healing breeze, never anyone else.

I'm sure than people not interested in PvP at the start would less likely to end up as menders..unless influenced by existing W/Mos I suppose. When I started playing, I made a Wammo because it was seemingly the easiest (as I was told) but because I never even made a pvp character until months later, so I never used mending outside of farming. No Paladin Prebuild=no Whammos, imo. I never fully grasped the concept of tanking either...I would just run in first and attack whatever the called target was..never used many stances except balanced during THK..got sick of giant stomp.

Most people start as a warrior/monk because it is arguably the easiest and most profitable profession. It's very easy to get your other characters started when you have your primary character to make money.

As long as you evolve from the original Whammo-style character, you should be fine =)

People play wammos because the game calls for them. They are easy to use, and alot of the mission and objectives can be easily reached through the use of warrior and monk skills. I started guildwars as an ele and played one since beta, but after the nerfs and ele drama I recently gave up on that class. I started my new character by first creating a W/R thinking that I would just take apply poison and a ton of conditions and just spam away for huge damage. At first it worked great... until I started running low on cash.
Farming and getting the moola was soooo slow as a W/R. There were many things I couldnt do as a solo farm because of the long casts of troll and lack of instant self heals. Eventually I said screw it and went with a W/mo profession change. As a Wammo I rake in TONS of cash, more than any other profession I played. Easy runs net me a plat here and there and its so easy to tank mobs with a healing hands warrior. I've cleaned out sorrows so many times with my W/mo and just sold tons of greens left and right. Before I knew it, I was halfway to FoW armor. W/mos are ideal for farming and are the only class that can run high level areas such as droks. W/mos can even farm the IDS and the troll cave.
The other class I know for a fact that rakes in tons of money is the Mo/W 55, just because of 55/SS abuse in UW and ectos galore. Now what do you see the most of in guildwars?
W/mo and Mo/W
Blame it on human greed and the economy. If you want to farm diversly and make big money in order to get your FoW gear you gonna have to make one of these sooner or later. Either that or Ebay.
